NEW STOCKIST OF WFM LURES
Biotrap are now able to stock lures for Western Fruit Moth, $4.10 each, minimum order of 100 lures. If you need a smaller number of traps this season, get in touch with Pomewest and we can place a bulk order. There is an expected turnaround of 2 weeks from order to delivery.
Western Fruit Moth (WFM) or Epiphyas pulla is native to Western Australia and considered a pest of trade concern for apple and other fruit species. WFM is almost identical to Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM) in appearance but does not respond to LBAM lures in the orchard.
If you are located near Manjimup WA and registered for export, you will likely need to trap for WFM in addition to LBAM using a red delta trap. Do not place both lures in the same trap, you will need to distinguish which species has been caught for your records.
Traps for the same species should be spread evenly over the block with at least 10-30m between traps. The recommended action threshold for LBAM and WFM in Western Australia is 5 or more moths caught in one trap in one week. When this threshold is reached check trees for larvae. Consider applying control once infestation of shoot/fruit clusters by larvae reaches 5%. Management for LBAM and WFM is the same.
Lure for LBAM on left with no moths, lure for WFM on right with significant moth numbers, both traps were set in the same orchard.
