Pomewest Grower Dinners 2025
This week, Pomewest hosted the Annual Grower Dinners on Tuesday, 9 September at Tall Timbers in Manjimup and on Wednesday, 10 September at the Donnybrook Hotel. Over 40 growers attended these events.
Executive Manager Nardia Stacy presented the 2026-2030 WA Apple and Pear Strategic Plan, which now includes a new focus on climate resilience and environmental sustainability. She also outlined the key projects for 2025-2026, as well as the goals for growth and profitability in the industry over the plan's duration. Jen provided an update on PIPS for Profit, and Susie shared her experiences from the APAL South African Tour. Guests, including Monica Radomiljac, Chair of the Agricultural Produce Commission, and Kim Starkie of WA Stonefruit, as well as Asad Ullah from the DPIRD Manjimup Office and Kenneth Kaysan Khayr from ECU, also attended and presented at the events, focusing on the NOS project and a study on consumer profiling acceptance of climate-affected produce.
Mario Casotti and Sam Licciardello received a token of appreciation from the committee in recognition of their combined 25 years of service and dedication to the industry, providing an excellent opportunity for celebration. New committee members Murray Collins and Mark Martella also attended the meetings and were warmly welcomed, representing a new generation of emerging leaders.
