Plating Up WA Turns Up the Heat This Winter this June

Winter just got a whole lot tastier.

This June, 45 venues across Western Australia are turning up the heat with specially crafted dishes showcasing the best local produce, all part of the deliciously popular Plating Up WA campaign. On Monday, May 19, Pomewest was invited to the launch of the 2025 Plating Up WA event, which was held at Mas Vino in the Pan Pacific Hotel, Perth. Apples were featured on the menu at the launch event, including a beautiful sweet dessert and a scallop dish accompanied by smoked apple sauce.

Nic Giblett from Newton Orchards, a Buy West Eat Best member, spoke as a panel member during the launch. Nic cleverly promoted the seasonality of WA apples. She emphasised the importance of supporting local growers to build demand for WA produce, ensuring the sustainability of the locally grown food industry for the future.

We’re thrilled to bring Plating Up WA back for its seventh year,”
— Melissa Worthington, Program Manager for buy West East Best

Now in its seventh year, the campaign is an initiative of the WA Government’s Buy West Eat Best program and shines a spotlight on WA’s incredible food and beverage scene — inviting food lovers to experience it on the plate.

From coastal eateries in Fremantle to wineries in the Swan Valley, bustling cafes in the Mid West, and restaurants nestled in the Southern Forests and South West, venues will be plating up everything from breakfasts and long lunches to, grazing boards and dinners.

This year’s dishes showcase a bounty of fresh local ingredients — wild-caught fish, sweet WA prawns and yabbies, succulent beef, pork and lamb, artisan cheeses, seasonal fruits, vibrant veggies, and more. Whether you’re craving a comforting winter classic or a bold, seasonal twist, there's a dish for every taste and every budget.

Since launching in 2018, this campaign has showcased more than 300 venues and continues to grow each year. New venues are joining for the first time this year. Many of the featured ingredients are selected directly from our Buy West Eat Best ingredient register – a true celebration of our local producers and the creative chefs who bring their stories to life on the plate.

At its heart, Plating Up WA is about supporting WA’s food, beverage, hospitality, and tourism sectors during the cooler, quieter months — when extra support is most welcome.
