Aussie Apple export dreams are being realised with US shipments and plans for China for Soluna

Bravo (Soluna) hits the news again this week on the ABC - Aussie Apple export dreams are being realised with US shipments and plans for China.

Australian-grown Soluna apples have entered the United States market. Described as a market test, two containers of the premium apples have just arrived on America's East Coast. Soluna apples are set to head to China in 2026 after Australia secured market access. This news comes on the back of successes in other international markets.

WA Farm Direct is maintaining supply to established markets in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the UAE, while launching in new destinations including the USA, India, and Saudi Arabia. Retailer expansion across existing markets has also been a standout achievement for 2025. The first shipments to the USA and India have already landed, marking a significant milestone in our growth strategy. These new markets are expected to become key drivers for sustained expansion for the brand for 2026 and beyond.

A win for Aussie Apple’s export aspirations for the industry

Elliot Jones, WA Farm Direct (pictured above), believes the uniqueness of this apple would make the fruit competitive in the US apple market. He said it was being stocked in supermarkets on the US East Coast."They're retailing roughly for $10 Australian a kilo, so that is a premium to the Australian market," he said.

"We are positioning it at a price point which will deliver returns to growers that are superior to what they can achieve in the domestic market. "There is additional costs in supplying these markets, both with freight — and there is a tariff into the US, there is an increased cost therefore there is going to be a higher cost to consumers."
