Mark Martella
Mark is eager to learn more about the industry from a fresh perspective and to help strengthen collaboration and unity within it.
He aims to follow Terry's example by contributing to a more profitable and sustainable future for the industry.
Mark, a mechanic by trade, joined the fruit orcharding business ten years ago after gaining seven years of experience in his field. He now works alongside his father, Terry, and cousin Basil at the family farm, Santa Rita Orchard in Kirup. Dad, Terry, is a well-known figure in the Western Australian apple community, serving on numerous committees and currently holding a position on the Hort Innovation R&D SIAP panel.
Mark is motivated by the pursuit of sustainability and higher returns and believes that monitoring quality and packout data offers valuable insights into crop performance. He views this as a significant opportunity to pinpoint areas that may require more attention in the upcoming seasons. With this information readily available through collection and analysis, he believes, you can quickly refine your operations and adjust your approach as necessary.
